Why security matters

Website security has long since stopped being a mere technical detail. Since 2018, Google has flagged sites without HTTPS as "not secure," browsers display warnings for them, and a portion of visitors leave such a site immediately. An encrypted connection (SSL/TLS) is the absolute baseline today — it protects the data traveling between visitor and server, and it is one of the confirmed ranking factors.

Beyond the certificate itself, a site's real resilience is determined by a set of security headers. These tell the browser how to behave — whether the site may be embedded in a frame (clickjacking), how strictly to enforce HTTPS, or which sources it may load scripts and styles from.
